Blueberry Baked Oatmeal (*w/ added Protein)

Hey babe!

I decided to publish some brekki inspiration as I've had clients wonder how they can add variety to their breakfast without skimping out on protein. I understand that eggs and smoothies every morning can get kinda dull, so I wanted to showcase a fun, fall-flavored recipe that literally makes you feel like you're eating pie first thing in the day.

If you're nourishing your hormones, or interested in optimizing fertility then you definitely want to make sure you are not just having a STARCH heavy breakfast first thing in the day. High carbs & sugar in the AM can encourage an insulin resistance pattern which then impacts cortisol, increases androgens, and can suppress ovulatory & menstrual function.

But because I don't believe in a totally restrictive approach, I found a way to balance the starchy oats with protein sources like eggs, greek yogurt, and whey protein powder. For this recipe, I've used the either the unflavored or vanilla whey protein powder from Truvani. I would just say, if you're going to add in the vanilla whey, you can skip adding maple syrup. However, if you're going unflavored...add in a bit of maple syrup OR drizzle it on at the end!

You'll find the recipe print-out below. And for updates on more recipes & educational resources make sure to subscribe to my emails on the home page!

Love,

Maritza

The Hormone Alchemist Note

Pairing carbohydrate-rich oats and fruit with protein and healthy fats can help create a more balanced breakfast. Individual nutritional needs vary. I'd recommend also adding a side of eggs to this brekki for an optimal protein-rich breakfast.
